East. The draft notification enclosed

with the Government of India's (Military

Department) letter 182-B of 24th. August, 1906, appeared as

Indian Army Order 550/Circular/October, 1906, and in a

subsequent letter No. 1694 B of 16th. May, 1907, from the

same Department it is intimated that "it will be necessary

for a recruiting party composed of the classes required to

be sent from Hongkong to work under the orders of the

(Indian) Recruiting Staff Officers concerned after sanction

has been accorded to the enlistment of the number of recruits

required of each class". Subsequently the Captain Superintend

ment of Police "will correspond direct with these recruit-
